First Snow 2022
If you’ve ever lived in Alabama, you know the weather is unpredictable and seasons are only suggestions, but the past few days, the weather really showed out. Approaching New Year‘s weekend, Lazy River Cottage experienced weather in the 70’s. The weather was perfect for spending time outdoors.
The weather experts have always said snow is hard to predict in north Alabama. Snow is not a guarantee in Alabama any year, that is for sure. Snow flurries were mentioned as a possibility for Sunday night, but given the previous extremely unseasonably warm weather the days prior, I don’t think anyone thought significant accumulation was a possibility. Sunday night about midnight the snow flakes began to fall and Monday morning the area woke up to 6” of snow blanketing the ground. Our family just happened to be visiting to celebrate Christmas with extended family and were blessed be there to enjoy this beautiful snow event.
My husband’s mother just happened to bring her new drone for us to try out during her stay. What a weekend to try out a drone too.
It was a winter wonderland for sure! The best part was due to the previously warm temperatures, the roads were still clear and we were able to get home to the snow at our house Monday night.
