Christmas 2021
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at Lazy River Cottage. We are excited to share our festively decorated cottage with you and your family. The pictures don’t do it justice. It is truly a magical place to enjoy some time during the holidays.
We thought “An Old Fashioned Christmas” style would fit the cottage perfectly. Sprinkled throughout the cottage, you’ll find a few festive touches sure to put a smile on your face.
A reindeer welcomes you on the buffet in the dining room. This is where you’ll find our guest book and game basket. We absolutely love getting to read your notes in the guest book. Thank you!
The downstairs Master Bedroom has a small nod to Christmas. I love the cedar greenery and you can never go wrong with tartian plaid and navy blue.
Upstairs in the sleeping loft you’ll find our family’s favorite reindeer nestled between the twin beds. This special little reindeer has spent the last 8 Christmases in our son’s room. He’s in high school now and has decided to share him with you and your family this year during your stay at Lazy River Cottage.
The Queen Bedroom upstairs features a few snow dusted pine trees and a Santa Clause on the bombay chest.
The two story rock fireplace is one of my favorite features of the interior of the cottage. It’s stunning all on its own, but something about a fire and a mantle decorated for Christmas, makes it even more stunning.
The mantle is ready for your stocking to be hung with care.
The mantle features a pine, cedar, and magnolia garland with red ornament accents and two nutcrackers that have been in our life since we first got married. I bought these years ago and we have enjoyed them over the years, but they just look at home here on the mantle at Lazy River Cottage.
The living room has two lighted features, the 9 foot tall Christmas tree and the 32’ of garland on the balcony railing. Both of these are controlled with a remote. We tried to label it to make it easier.
The lighted garland, tree, and front door feature the 3 ribbons that set the tone for “An Old Fashioned Christmas”. I plan to do a post next week specifically about the tree and garland and how to get that look, in case anyone’s interested.
If you stay at Lazy River Cottage during the holidays, be sure to use the dimmer switch to the living room lights on the wall by the closet under the stairs. It makes the evening feel even more magical with the lights dimmed, the Christmas lights on, and the fire going.
Last, but not least, I decided to try something different on the front door this year and I love how it turned out. We also added a festive welcome mat to greet you when you arrive.
